Accidents Where an accident occurs on a road which causes any or all of: -
Injury to another person; -
Damage to another vehicle; -
Damage to roadside property; Injury to an animal (being horses, cattle, ass, mule, sheep, pigs, goat, or dogs), then the driver is required to stop at the scene of the accident, and if required provide his name and address, the vehicle owners name and address (if different) and the registration mark of the vehicle in which he is travelling. Failure to stop is an offence carrying obligatory endorsement of between 5 and 10 penalty points, a fine and/or up to 6 months imprisonment. If there is no-one at the location of the accident to whom he can provide the information, then the driver must as soon as is practicable, and in any event within 24 hours, provide that information to the Police. Failure to report is an offence carrying obligatory endorsement of between 5 and 10 penalty points, a fine and/or up to 6 months imprisonment.
