Getting out of Debt

Getting into debt is a part of everyday living in the 21st Century. We borrow for all manner of things from a mortgage on our home to credit cards, car loans or even for the basics of life like food and clothing.

The very first step in resolving debt difficulties is to face the problem head on. Burying our heads in the sand was how we got into a fix in the first place. A good way to start is to collect all the documentation you have together and bringing it in to one of our lawyers. You will be amazed how much easier it is to deal with a problem when a independent person casts their eye over the evidence and can look at the debts with a dispassionate view. What may have seemed like an enormous mountain to you may be just a small hill that we can climb together and overcome.

What we as lawyers find, is that once a list is made of all the outstanding balances, we are able to help you plan your future better. A creditor will always be more sympathetic to a debtor where they can see evidence of looking sensibly at the overall picture and making a realistic proposal to settle the debt.

You may not be able to pay the debts off at the full rates for each debt but, the creditors will be open to negotiating an overall reduced payment that is both affordable to you and shows them that you have taken a sensible course of action to address the difficulties you face.

We can approach the Creditors with proposals for repayments which take into account your income and other essential expenditure on household expenses. What is important is the need to be frank with us and TELL US EVERYTHING! It will not assist you if we later find out that there are other debts that we weren't able to deal with and make offers on - it just puts off the problem!

What we can't promise to do is solve your debt problem but, we can promise to assist you and ensure your creditors deal with you sensitively and ensure you are able to manage your finances sensibly.
